Our Projects

Our Process

Our projects are usually referred to us through a network of agencies in this region who already deliver services to Disabled Service Veterans and their families.   Our projects are often performed for recipients who do not have anyone else who can help.   If you or someone you know needs our help- do not hesitate.  Please fill out the contact form at the bottom of this page.

Once we have a referral, we meet with the recipients on site and perform an assessment of the issue(s).  Our criteria for projects we commit to includes: a documentable economic need, urgency of the remodeling, and if we are a right fit for the work that needs to be done.  We often ask for supporting documentation about their economic need because we perform these projects a little or no cost to the recipients.  Sometimes we ask the recipient to make some kind of nominal contribution to the project.  We pay for these projects with private funds that we raise ourselves from regular people (big-hearted friends and family), so we feel a serious responsibility to spend the money where it is needed most.

Once we commit to a project, we create a materials list, a schedule, and we begin fundraising.  We keep in weekly contact with recipients to make sure that things are tracking properly leading up to the project.  We arrange all volunteers, materials, dumpsters, permits, everything.

After the project, we like it when recipients write thank you notes to some of the volunteers.
